Getting Started and the 4-1-1:

We do all of our scheduling through an app called 7 Shifts. (click here to download the app: Android Apple). We will schedule everyone's shifts. Postings a month in advance go up on the last Friday of the the current month. Meaning, if it's currently the month of April,  shifts for June will go up on the last Friday of April (the last Friday of the current month). 

We will schedule individuals based on their availability. Please post any dates you would like off no later than the last Monday of the month for the advancing month so we are able to accurately schedule shifts. If you do not have your availability in by the last Monday of the month, we will schedule you as needed. If you are scheduled and unable to work, it is your responsibility to reach out to other bartenders to cover your shift. Also, let us know so I can help in finding a replacement as well. In May we start having weddings at both The Village and The Farm pretty consistently, so if you do not get a shift at The Village, check The Farm and visa versa!

On the Job Training: 

Other than the Tipps Training Certification, training is pretty simple. Our Event Coordinator or an experienced bartender will train you on the job. Each shift is scheduled 30 minutes before the bar needs to be open. This 30 minutes allows for you and the other bartender to set up the bar. For your first shift, please arrive 30 minutes earlier than the shift states as we will be going over the ins and outs of the bar during that time. 

What to Wear:

If you can (meaning if your shirt is not dirty and at the bottom of your dirty cloths hamper), please wear the black Village and Farm shirt with either jeans or nice pants. Please no holes in your pants, fashion can suffer a tiny bit for the night. If you are not able to wear your black shirt, please wear a nice top.

Duties: 

When you arrive, please go through the "Opening the Bar" checklist and check off the items as you get them done. This offers accountability... and let's be honest it keeps your mind clear too (#multitaskers). Please follow the guidelines of pours, different cups, and pricing as given to you upon training. You are also expected to keep not only the bar tidy, but also the space around you as lulls in serving at the bar allows. This could mean stepping out into the banquet hall to pick up a few empty cans and throwing them away or wiping up a spill. 

What to Expect: 

Even though it is work first, we want this time to be fun for you. You are allowed to partake in making yourself drinks throughout the night, but if it becomes a problem that privilege will be taken away. Be cool, folks! Some nights will be consistently steady, others will be slow; each event is different. All of us at The Village and The Farm have a learned behavior of "learning as you go". So, if you see a need fill a need. Just jump in and when random things come up, use your critical thinking skills and problem solve :) We are always willing to answer any questions via call or text, but sometimes we will not have the phone on us right away and may take a couple minutes to respond. The week of an event you are scheduled for, we will send out specific details for the event via 7 Shifts as well. 

Payment:

Bartenders receive a base pay of $100 paid via Venmo. In addition to the base pay, cash tips are split with the other bartender working. Encourage guests that IF they are wanting to tip, to do so by way of cash as bartenders do not receive card tips. Shifts usually run from about 4:30pm until 11:30pm.

This hour allows for you to check on the space, introduce yourself to any vendors or family members, and answer any initial questions. For your first shift, we will be going over the ins and outs of the bar during that time and you will shadow us or an experienced Event Host for at least the first event.

If you are Event Hosting at The Farm, you are allowed to wear shorts during our summer events at that location only... it's HOT out there! Shorts cannot be jean and have to be modest (mid-length or Bermuda length). Tank tops are also acceptable with the same standards as the shorts. NO spaghetti straps, tube tops, low cut, or crop tops... we're talking middle school rules ;) If it becomes a problem, this privilege will be taken away and boy would that suck! If you need some ideas or clarification of what is expected, shoot us a text and we will send you some examples of what I wear.
